Author BiographyWinfrid Kay Thackrey was born to a pioneer family in 1899 and raised on a remote ranch near Bismark, ND. Trained as an interior decorator at the Art Institute of Chicago, she went to Hollywood in 1921 hoping to work as a set designer. Finding that field closed to women, she became a script supervisor and special projects assistant which put her at the heart of the Hollywood filmmaking process, working with many of its most creative people during its most creative era.
