Diese Arbeit wurde im Sommer 1992 als Dissertation unter dem Titel Sprachfahigkeit des Staatsburgers und OEffentlichkeit. Zu den Anforderun- gen der artikulierten OEffentlichkeit, insbesondere der Bildungspolitik und der Medien, an die Sprachfahigkeit des Staatsburgers von der Neuphilologischen Fakultat der Ruprecht-Karls-Universitat Heidel- berg angenommen. Sie wurde durch ein Stipendium der Friedrich-Nawnann-Stiftung aus Mitteln des Bundesministeriums fur Bildung und Wissenschaft gefoerdert. Besonders danken moechte ich fur seine immerwahrende Unterstutzung Prof Rainer Wimmer, der mit seinen sprachkritischen Thesen und seiner Konzep- tion eines reflektierten Sprachgebrauchs wesentliche Impulse zum Zustan- dekommen der Arbeit gegeben hat.
