Neste mesmo periodo tambem assume o oficio de delegado, juiz e deputado pela Provincia do Ceara. Contudo, o principal oficio de Padre Ibiapina foi a acao missionaria e profetica pelos caminhos ressequidos do semiarido brasileiro. Nao constante a escassez de meios de transpote e de recursos financeiros, revolucionou o nordeste brasileiro, edificando a maior obra caritativa de amparo aos diversos grupos desamparados, edificando dezenas de instrumentos que salvaram vidas de criancas orfas e multidao de enfermos, famintos e sedentos afetados pela maior seca do nordeste, ocorrida na segunda metade do seculo XIX no semiarido nordestino. Padre Ibiapina e um grande prioneiro de uma acao que aproveita os proprios recursos que o semiarido brasileiro oferece para uma vida digna ao povo do semiarido nordestino do Brasil.
