Mit psychoonkologischen Methoden koennen die Selbstheilungskrafte des Menschen aktiviert werden. Durch die Entwicklung von inneren Bildern kann das Immunsystem stimuliert werden. Auch der Entwicklung von Strategien zur Bewaltigung (Coping) der Krankheit kommt grosse Bedeutung zu. Zur Unterstutzung der medizinischen Behandlung und zur Verbesserung der Lebensqualitat werden die Ressourcen des Patienten aktiviert. Ressourcen finden wir auf vier Ebenen: koerperlich, seelisch, sozial und spirituell. Die Arbeit mit den Angehoerigen im sozialen Feld ist ebenso wichtig wie Strategien zur Stressbewaltigung. Das Buch bietet die Moeglichkeit, eigene therapeutische Kompetenzen zu erweitern und den ganzheitlichen Blick in der Arbeit mit KrebspatientInnen zu scharfen. Das Buch zielt darauf, die psychoonkologische Behandlung im Sinne eines ganzheitlichen bio-psycho-sozialen Ansatzes zu vermitteln.
