Das Tagebuch erzahlt authentisch von einem Segeltoern uber den Atlantik, von Teneriffa nach Martinique. Ein zweiter, unmittelbar anschliessender Toern ging sudlich nach St.Lucia, Bequia, Mayreau und Union Island. An diesem sudlichsten Punkt des Toerns ging der Autor von Bord, setzte das Inselhupfen mit Fahren und Flugzeug fort, besuchte Bequia, St.Vincent und Dominica. UEberrascht stellte er fest, dass das Erkunden der Inseln ohne die Anbindung an ein Boot (und eine Gruppe) wesentlich entspannter verlief als mit. Mit der UEberquerung eines grossen Ozeans erfullte sich ein Traum. Es war die dritte lange Reise des Autors in seiner Rentenzeit. Hermann Dunhoelter, geb. 1946 in Bielefeld, Studium der Padagogik und Sozialwissenschaft in Hamburg, Schulungs-, Lehrgangs-, Seminarleiter in der Erwachsenenbildung, Lehrer, stellvertretender Schulleiter der FHH, passionierter Segler, arbeitet seit einigen Jahren als Skipper fur Charterfirmen im Mittelmeer.
