Die Handschrift Stuttgart, Wurttembergische Landesbibliothek, Cod. Don. A III 18 ist ein unikales Zeugnis privater Weihnachtsfroemmigkeit aus dem 16. Jahrhundert. Auf acht Pergamentblattern sind 15 mittelniederlandische und lateinische Lieder zum Weihnachtskreis uberliefert, die trotz ihrer thematischen Einheit eine vielseitige Sammlung ergeben. Neben spatmittelalterlichen Cantiones mit langer Rezeptionsgeschichte sind volkssprachige Lieder mit regional begrenzter Wirkung enthalten, die hauptsachlich aus der niederlandischen Druckuberlieferung bekannt sind. Durch die Darstellung der UEberlieferung der einzelnen Lieder, die Kommentierung der Liedtexte sowie die Aufbereitung des Variantenspektrums der volkssprachigen Lieder will die Arbeit einen Beitrag zur Grundlagenforschung leisten und eine Edition bieten, die es zulasst, sowohl die einzelnen Texte mitsamt ihrer UEberlieferungsgeschichte als auch die Sammlung als Ganze in den Fokus zu nehmen.
