So aussert sich Michel Foucault in Das Leben der infamen Menschen uber die Ruhmlosen, die Ausgeschlossenen und nimmt diese in seinen Diskurs auf. Um Ausschluss, Belebung und Einschluss geht es auch bei Baudelaire in vielen Gedichten von Les Fleurs du mal. Foucault hatte vor, Dokumente aus dem franzoesischen Internierungswesen des 17. und 18. Jahrhunderts in einer Anthologie zusammenstellen: Einzigartige Leben, die - ich weiss nicht durch welchen Zufall - befremdende Gedichte geworden sind: dies wollte ich in einer Art von Herbarium zusammentragen. Dieser Satz koennte auch im Vorwort von Les Fleurs du mal stehen. Hier findet sich ebenfalls eine Art Herbarium, eine Sammlung von Gedichten, die als moralisch verwerflich bezeichnet wurden, bestimmte Dufte verbreiten und andere angeblich krank machen koennen. Um eine Ausbreitung solcher Dufte zu vermeiden, erfolgte ein Ausschluss, der im Mittelpunkt der vorliegenden Arbeit steht. Wie nimmt die Dichtung Baudelaires die Ausgeschlossenen, die Verstossenen in den Diskurs wieder auf? Die Grundfrage lautet: Ist der Topos des Ausschlusses ein Paradoxon, weil er gleichsam einschliesst? Die Apostrophe ist ein rhetorisches Mittel zur Wiederbelebung, zur Anrede von Abwesenden und Ausgeschlossenen. Barbara Johnson behauptet, die Apostrophe habe etwas mit Mutterschaft zu tun.
