  • It's a challenge going back...

I adored Bill Bryson's "Notes from a Small Island" when it was released, in fact, based our trip to the UK on some of the chapters (and avoided certain places for the same reason). But going back is always hard, and things change, not always for the best. Bill obviously loves Great Britain, and treasures certain areas, but there is a tone of "grumpiness" in many of the chapters which is a bit discouraging. • I would recommend it. It made one wonder....what is this all about:)

It was interesting and informative. But.....Bill Bryson's wit shown through. It made me belly laugh! Right now, with the world's virus troubles, it was a welcome relief!

  • Bryson does it again.

As usual, with the possible exception of "A Short History About Nearly Everything" - a book I did not enjoy, Bill Bryson delivers a great account of travelling in a foreign country. His quirky style makes it difficult to put this book down.
