Diese Erkenntnisse sind fur den Vergleich histologischer Schnittpraparate mit radiologischen Methoden fur die weitere Entwicklung und Optimierung bildgebender Verfahren essentiell, da solche histologischen Schnittbilder als morphologische Vorlage in der Entwicklung bildgebender Verfahren wie der computertomographischen Vermessung der Atemwege dienen, welche in der modernen Diagnostik von Lungenerkrankungen wie Asthma bronchiale und COPD eine zunehmende Bedeutung gewinnt.
