Stolz und Vorurteil (Originaltitel: Pride and Prejudice) ist der bekannteste Roman der britischen Schriftstellerin Jane Austen. Er erschien 1813. Stolz und Vorurteil ist ein Entwicklungsroman, in dem die beiden Hauptfiguren Elizabeth Bennet und Fitzwilliam Darcy durch die UEberwindung einiger Krisen reifen mussen, um sich in neuer Bescheidenheit und Einsicht in ihre Fehler fur eine gemeinsame Zukunft zu finden. Allerdings ist dieses Werk der fruh verstorbenen Schriftstellerin nicht nur als Liebesroman zu verstehen, sondern auch als zeitgenoessische Gesellschaftsstudie. Karin von Schwab war eine UEbersetzerin beruhmter vorw. englischsprachigen Autoren; Schwerpunkt: UEbersetzungen von Romanen mit Frauenthematik, bes. Werke von Jane Austen sowie Simone de Beauvoir. Die Rechtschreibung der UEbersetzung wurde aktualisiert.
